People
from all across the country continue to email NewsChannel 19 asking us
to take action on a story. Their saga started when they contacted a
woman named Camilla Nichols of Colbert County wanting to be part
of her company "Sweet Cupcake Candles".
.
NewsChannel 19 has documented complaints about this company in nearly 30
states, and two foreign countries. They say things went south not long
after sending Nichols their money.
.
NewsChannel 19 went straight to the source and called Camilla Nichols.
She agreed to do an interview. So we went to the address she gave us,
but she didn't show up. Camilla sent her mother-in-law and mother to
tell us Camilla wouldn't do the interview, saying she was too upset.
.
However, there are alot of people upset with Nichols.
.
Kim Neikirk is new to online business pyramids. Kim decided to try to
selling the hand-poured Sweet Cupcake Candle products that Camilla
Nichols owns. We talked with her about what happened shortly after
she joined.
.
"Some people's credit cards were charged that actually bought products
and they never received them, but their cards were charged," said
Neikirk.
.
When you go to Sweet Cupcake Candle's web site, you get an error. That's
what has caused women across the country and some other countries to be
alarmed. The web site was taken down with a warning. Camilla Nichols
sent a e-mail to her sellers, saying someone had gotten in the account
and there was unusual activity, so the web site would be shut down
during an investigation. Camilla told NewsChannel 19 the web site is
under construction.
.
The Huntsville Better Business Bureau is looking into the situation and
has this advice for consumers.
.
"We want people to check out opportunities or businesses hopefully
before they spend their money," said Michelle McDaniels with the B.B.B. "Rather
than having to come to us afterwards to try to resolve the situation."
.
When Camilla Nichols sent out the warning to her sellers, she also
forwarded a conversation she had on the computer with an assistant she
accused of stealing money.
.
NewsChannel 19 talked with Angela Ward, who lives in South Carolina. She
told us Camilla has accused her of several things and is trying to make
her the fall guy. Ward adds Camilla hasn't responded to her phone calls
or e-mails.
